I decided to start this project in a pressing time because the deadline was approaching. There were many difficulties that I could not imagine how I would finish it. My first problem was that I had any RODE microphone, neither filming team. Anyway, I decided to move on because I did not want to feel regret not doing this.
After I decided to work on this film, I bought the right model of RODE microphone right away. Then I took a nine-hour bus trip to Chiang Mai, the north of Thailand. But with limited budget, I have to think hard about all expenses, and maximize what I have got to make the best short film of mine.
This short film is presented in a documentary style with a combination of life reality that tells about valuable culture that is passed down for generations. I was so lucky to meet a traditional Lanna dance crew that helped me a lot in filming.
At first, I just have a story outline. For scripts, we improvised during the filming because I wanted everything to be real and fresh as much as possible. And of course, to save budget as much as I can! On that day, the dance crew I met was going to perform in the city’s celebration ceremony. So, what I had to do is to realize my story based on what they were going to do. The day I started this film, the deadline was in the next two days, so I had one day for filming. That means I could not make any mistake because there were no time left for fixing it. Everything went even worst when it rained, but “The show must go on.” The dance crew and I tirelessly continued to complete our mission. Finally, I got only incoherent footage.
My major problem is that I have no story teller in the film. Yes…there are so many things to be corrected in this film. However, I finished it, finally. I think I have learned a lot from my mistakes; and I believe that I will definitely do better and better. Thank you.
หนังสั้นจากไทยที่เข้าร่วมประกวดงานนี้
ผมตัดสินใจทำโปรเจ็คต์นี้อย่างกระชั้นชิด เพราะมีเวลาเหลือน้อยมาก และมีข้อจำกัดหลายอย่าง ชนิดที่ว่า มองภาพสุดท้ายไม่ออกเลยทีเดียว อย่างแรกเลยคือ ผมยังไม่มีไมค์ของ RODE สักอัน แถมไม่มีทีมถ่ายทำอีกต่างหาก แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม ผมไม่อยากมานั่งเสียดายที่ไม่ได้ทำ เมื่อตัดสินใจจะทำงานนี้ ผมก็เลยซื้อไมค์ RODE รุ่นที่เหมาะกับผมทันที และก็ต้องตีตั๋วรถบัสเดินทางกว่า 9 ชั่วโมงไปเชียงใหม่ ภาคเหนือของประเทศไทย เพราะมีงบที่จำกัด จึงต้องประหยัดมากๆ
ดังนั้นผมจึงใช้สิ่งที่มีอยู่เพื่อนำเสนอหนังสั้นเรื่องนี้ หนังสั้นที่ผมคิดไว้ จะมีรูปแบบคล้ายสารคดี ผสมผสานเรียลลิตี้ชีวิตจริง ที่จะบอกเล่าถึงวัฒนธรรมที่ส่งต่อจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น กระทั่งถึงปัจจุบัน โชคดีที่ผมรู้จักกลุ่มช่างฟ้อนทางภาคเหนือ ซึ่งน่าจะช่วยในการถ่ายทำได้ ผมคิดโครงเรื่องไว้คร่าวๆ และบทจริงๆ เราก็มาดูกันตอนถ่ายทำจริงอีกที เพราะอยากจะให้ทุกอย่างใกล้เคียงกับความเป็นจริงมากที่สุด และประหยัดที่สุด
โดยน้องๆ กลุ่มที่ผมถ่ายทำนั้น พวกเขาเป็นกลุ่มช่างฟ้อนที่เชียงใหม่อยู่แล้ว และกำลังจะไปแสดงในงานเฉลิมฉลองของจังหวัด ซึ่งสิ่งที่ผมต้องทำก็คือ ดึงเรื่องราวที่ผมคิดไว้ออกมาจากตัวของพวกเขาให้ได้ ผมมีเวลาถ่ายทำ 1 วัน เพราะตอนนี้เหลือเวลาไม่ถึง 2 วันก็จะหมดเขตการส่งผลงาน ดังนั้นทุกอย่างจะถ่ายซ่อมไม่ได้ เคราะห์ซ้ำกรรมซัดวันที่ผมถ่ายทำฝนก็ตกลงมา แต่เดอะโชว์มัสโกออน ผมและน้องๆ กลุ่มช่างฟ้อนก็ยังทำหน้าที่อย่างไม่ลดละ จนเราได้ภาพที่ไม่ปะติดประต่อกันมากมาย
แต่จุดสำคัญคือยังขาดคนเดินเรื่อง …มีหลายสิ่งหลายอย่างให้ต้องแก้ไขเยอะจริงๆ ครับ …แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม งานนี้ก็ออกมาจนได้ แม้จะมีข้อบกพร่องมากมาย แต่ผมคิดว่า ข้อบกพร่องเหล่านั้นแหละที่จะทำให้เราพัฒนาขึ้น ในโอกาสต่อไป เราจะต้องทำให้ดีกว่านี้ได้แน่นอน …ขอบคุณครับ
